San Martino’s dessert is a Venetian tradition celebrated on November 11th. It is a large shortbread cookie in the shape of a knight on horseback, decorated with colored icing, chocolates and sweets. Symbol of generosity, it recalls the gesture of the saint who shared his cloak with a beggar. On this day, children walk through the streets of Venice singing nursery rhymes and receiving sweets as gifts.
